How many people does a box of GrillEasy™ FireQube feed?

It depends on the appetites, however on average it is good enough to feed up to 6 people. For larger parties, grab two and light them side by side.

What are the dimensions of the box?

The GrillEasy™ FireQube is (L)8" x (W)7-3/4" x (H)6-3/4" and fits in most portable and park grills.

How long does the charcoal last / burn?

Since lump charcoal is very responsive to oxygen, the burn time varies greatly based on the circumstances. On an open picnic grill, you will get about 45 minutes. In a closed off and air regulated smoker or a ceramic Kamado type grill, the coals will last anywhere from 3-4 hours. This is all contingent on other factors such as wind and outside temperature.

What’s the difference between Lump Charcoal and Briquettes?

Most people are familiar with briquette charcoal; the neat pillow shaped coal. Briquettes are kind of like the fast food of charcoal. They are available on every corner, cheap, and most people don’t really know what’s inside of them. Briquettes are manufactured wood by-products compressed by a machine with a laundry list of additives that help them keep its pretty shape and burn consistently. In addition, they are either already soaked with lighter fluid to get them started or it’s up to you to pour some on and light them up.

Image of Lump CharcoalIf like us, you don’t enjoy the smell of burning tires and don’t want to contribute to the approximate 14,500 tons of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emitted from lighter fluid per year, there is another option; Lump Charcoal. Lump is made the old fashioned way, slowly exposing pieces of real hardwood to high heat until you’re left with little more than carbon. It’s that simple, no additives, no fillers, no lighter fluid, just pieces of real wood turned into carbon. Lump charcoal retains amazing smoky wood flavor that is transferred to anything you throw on the grill.

Can’t I just use a charcoal chimney to get the charcoal ready?

Sure, and a lot of people do use charcoal chimneys. We just want to make firing up your grill even easier. With a charcoal chimney, you need to buy a bulky bag of coals, dump some out into the chimney, light the coals, and then dump them out into a grill. With the GrillEasy™ FireQube, you can skip all those steps. Just place the box inside your grill, light the wick, grab a beer, and start grilling in 15 minutes. It’s that easy!
